July, 2007 – Bahi Motors, exclusive importer for BMW and MINI in Syria, has strengthened its market leadership as provider of premium automobiles with the launch of several new BMW vehicles at the 7th edition of the International Damascus Motorshow held at the Damascus International Fairground.
“Bahi Motors is committed to growing the automotive industry in Syria, having participated at the International Damascus Motorshow for the third year running as part of that commitment,” said Bassel Chehabi, President, Bahi Motors. “Since becoming the sole importer of BMW Group products in Syria in 1995, we have seen significant growth in the business, in part to our customers’ dedication to the brand.
“Our expansion six years ago is an example of the growth the business has experienced in such a short period of time. The ongoing synergy between Bahi Motors, BMW and the International Damascus Motorshow will continue to support the growth of the automotive industry in Syria for several years to come.”
The Bahi Motors stand saw an impressive display of all new BMW vehicles, including the new BMW X5, featuring a 4.8-litre V8 engine which produces a total of 355bhp for a 0-100km/h time of 6.5 seconds. Also on display were the BMW 6 Series Convertible, BMW 7 Series, BMW M5, the all new BMW 5 Series and the new BMW 325 Convertible, featuring a retractable hardtop that folds away in just 22 seconds.
“Bahi Motors has been a great success story for BMW in the Middle East. In 2006, Bahi Motors witnessed a growth of 45 percent over 2005, one of the highest growths in the region. This growth has carried over to the first half of 2007, where a growth of 51 percent over the same period in 2006 has been evident, proof of Bahi Motors’ dedication to the Syrian market,” explained Jochen Stoever, Marketing Manager, BMW Group Middle East.
“BMW and Bahi Motors’ commitment to the Syrian market has been cemented through our participation in the 7th edition of the International Damascus Motorshow. More so, Bahi Motors has established its position as the market leader in the premium car segment in the country with strong sales being recorded for this year, and we expect this remarkable growth to continue in the future.”
